Retrofit
The modernization and digitization of existing, older facilities ("Brownfield") to extend their lifespan.
Since investments in new constructions are often expensive ("Germany is built"), companies upgrade old machines with new sensors and control technology. The goal is to obtain data for predictive maintenance even from 30-year-old facilities.
Retrofit often creates a documentation chaos, as old plans are no longer accurate. ADAM serves as a "Digital Life Record" that documents the transformation of the machine. Thus, even after the conversion, it remains legally traceable which components are installed (Topic: Significant Change).
