Spare Parts Management

The organization of procurement, storage, and provision of components for maintenance. The goal is the optimal compromise between maximum equipment availability and minimal capital tied up in inventory.

The Dilemma: Too Much or Too Little?

Spare parts management is a balancing act.

  • Scenario A (Fear): You stock everything to be able to fix any failure immediately. Result: High capital tie-up and many "inventory corpses" that are never needed.
  • Scenario B (Saving): You minimize the stock. Result: If a critical part is missing, the equipment stands still for weeks. The downtime costs often exceed the value of the parts by multiples.

The Problem is the Data

Why do technicians often not find parts even though they are in stock? Because of poor master data. In many SAP systems, the same bearing exists five times under different names ("Bearing 50mm", "SKF-Bearing", "Rolling Bearing"). Without clean data, no automation and no inventory optimization is possible.

The Modern Approach with Hahn PRO

We solve the problem not by larger shelves, but by intelligent linking:

  1. Finding via Context: The technician does not need to know the part number. He opens the Digital Twin of the equipment in ADAM and immediately sees the bill of materials of the installed components.
  2. Fault-tolerant Search: Our AI understands technical contexts. It finds the right component even if the designation in SAP is cryptically abbreviated (e.g., matches "Bear." with "Rolling Bearing").
  3. Cleanup: Algorithms help to identify duplicates in the master data and reduce inventory to what is necessary.
